Major Project Completed – St Macartan's Nursing Home, Clogher

This week we successfully completed our largest wireless fire alarm installation to date at St Macartan's Nursing Home, Clogher.

Having previously worked with this valued client, we were approached to upgrade their existing fire alarm system while preserving the character and aesthetics of the building. One of the client's key requirements was that no new fire alarm cabling would be visible on walls or ceilings, ensuring the appearance of this beautiful facility remained untouched.

The project covered an impressive 22,000 square feet across four levels and required extensive planning to ensure full compliance with current fire safety regulations.

To assist with this major undertaking, we partnered with our Syngo Wireless specialists at KD Electronics. Working closely with Dave and the team, we carried out multiple radio site surveys throughout the building to map signal paths, determine device locations, and ensure reliable wireless communication across the entire site.

The existing system was upgraded with a new Advanced fire alarm control panel and Syngo wireless translators. Wireless expanders with dedicated backup power supplies were strategically installed throughout the building to create a robust wireless network infrastructure.

We then installed a comprehensive range of Syngo wireless devices including:

 Optical smoke detectors

 Heat detectors

 Multi-sensor detectors

 Manual call points (break glass units)

 Wireless input/output interfaces

Wireless interfaces were also integrated with the building's access control system and lift controls, ensuring doors release and lift operations respond appropriately in the event of a fire alarm activation.

The Syngo wireless platform utilises secure, bi-directional communication, continuous device monitoring, advanced signal integrity management, battery supervision, and EN54-certified wireless fire technology, delivering performance and reliability comparable to traditional wired systems while eliminating the need for disruptive cabling.

Following installation, every device and interface was individually tested and commissioned, with a comprehensive handover and detailed certification package provided to the client.
